:Prostate cancer information program: Steward Health Systems will facilitate a Prostate Cancer Information Program & Support Group on July 8 at 6 p.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Come find out about the latest measures to prevent prostate cancer. Please call Contact Betty Burnell at 978-374-2390, ext. 10, to reserve a seat.

:Health activities offered by Council on Aging: A Shingles Vaccination Information Session will be presented by Walgreens Pharmacy July 11 at 10 a.m. Indications for vaccination and insurance coverage will be discussed. To reserve space, contact Mary Connolly, RN, Community Health Coordinator, at 978-374-2390, ext 15.

Diabetes workshop offered: Home Health VNA will offer a six-week diabetes education workshop now through July 30. Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Karen DiPietro, a certified diabetes educator, will facilitate the group. The program will be provided in groups, but each person will receive on individual session. All sessions are covered by Medicare. Topics include healthy eating, being active, blood sugar monitoring, medications, problem solving, reducing complications and health coping with diabetes. Trip to Providence planned: The Council on Aging plans a trip to Providence, R.I., on July 11. This trip includes a luncheon at Cassarino’s in Little Italy’s “Federal Hill.” Following lunch, dessert will be served at one of Providence’s favorite bakeries, “The LaSalle Bakery,” where coffee and treats await our travelers. A tour guide will provide an historical look at Providence, which includes the Statehouse, University Heights, Brown University and Prospect Park. Tickets for the trip are $72 per person. Trip to the play ‘West Side Story’: The Council on Aging plans a trip to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see “West Side Story” on Sept. 15. The trip includes motor coach transportation, free time in Perkins Cove, Maine, and matinee tickets. Cost is $93 per person. Call 978-374-2390 for more information.
