Pros teach girls photo skills

Twenty-six girls from Girls Inc. of Greater Haverhill gathered around two professional photographers at Winnekenni Castle to get tips on taking pictures during a two-week photo safari held as part of a summer camp.

Courtney Trembler, Haverhill native and portrait photographer, and Amy Sweeney, director of photography at the North of Boston Media Group which includes The Haverhill Gazette, gave the girls pointers on basic photo skills. The girls took portraits of each other and worked on their composition and lighting. They also explored the area and photographed scenic shots, which will be for sale in a November fundraiser.

The girls also met with the photographers at Girls Inc., where they looked through their images and learned editing skills. All photos appearing here, except for the group photo, were taken by the girls.

Girls Inc. is an after-school and summer program for girls ages 6 to 12.
