Cycle for Shelter celebrates 25th anniversary: The 25th annual Cycle for Shelter will be held on July 28 on the Haverhill campus of Northern Essex Community College. Registration is $50 or $100 on the day of the event (if space is available) and includes a free raffle ticket for Red Sox tickets. This annual event raises money to support life-saving programs for homeless families and individuals. Choose from 21-, 50-, 62- or a 100-mile loop that travels along the scenic New Hampshire seacoast then joins the 62-mile route on the back roads of Northern Essex County. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day. A barbecue will be provided by Emmaus staff, Longhorn Steakhouse, UNO and Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods Inc. Rejuvenating massages and shower facilities will be available. Urban Adventours in Boston is offering a 15 percent discount on bike rentals and a 50 percent discount on bike shipping. Council on Aging plans trips: A bus and rail excursion to Portland, Maine, aboard Amtrak’s Downeaster train is July 13. Cost is $89 per person. A summer sail on the schooner Thomas E. Lannon and a visit to Gloucester and Rockport is July 31. Cost is $95 per person. An overnight trip to Tanglewood for a BSO concert with fireworks and the Berkshires is Aug. 6 and 7 and includes deluxe motor coach transportation, one night hotel at the Comfort Inn in Pittsfield, full course luncheon, BSO concert, and admissions to several museums. Cost is $299 per person, double occupancy. A trip to Baltimore to see the Boston Red Sox play the Orioles in Camden Yards is July 26 to 28 and includes a visit to Gettysburg National Park for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Included are three Red Sox games at Camden Yards and two nights in the Crown Plaza in Timonium, Maryland, with full American breakfasts. Cost is $449 per person, double occupancy. A Boston Harbor Cruise to Provincetown is Aug. 3. Cost is $94 per person. A trip to see The Corvettes Doo Wop Revue at Venus de Milo in Swansea is Sept. 5. Tickets are $59 per person and include transportation, luncheon, and performance. A trip to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see “West Side Story” is Sept. 15 and includes motorcoach transportation, free time in Perkins Cove, Maine, and matinee tickets. Cost is $93 per person.
