Shoe-la-bration steps toward the finish line
After a summer filled with vibrantly painted public art, Haverhill's citywide "Shoe-la-bration" concludes with a gala auction at the Bradford Country Club.
The Soles of Haverhill auction will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the club at 201 Chadwick Road in Bradford.
All 14 of the 6-foot tall shoes will be in attendance, putting their best foot forward in the hopes of being purchased. Winning bidders will get to take home the giant shoe and the money will benefit whatever public art project, community nonprofit or cultural organization associated with the shoe.
The silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude around 7:30. A live auction will begin at 8. The silent auction features a variety of items including gift certificates for goods and services including restaurants, salons, recreational, health and fitness venues as well as two elegant Stuart Weitzman handbags, jewelry, flowers, signed albums by Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith, a signed photo of Angelina Jolie, an overnight at Comfort Suites, a private tour of the nation's Capitol, an African Safari for two, music lessons, gift certificates towards a cruise, weekend getaways, three family fun packs worth around $200, rounds of golf for four and much more.
Tickets to the event are are $60 each. Guests can also host a table of eight for $480. Tickets can be purchased online through the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce at www.haverhillchamber.com. Pre-bids for the shows are being accepted at the Chamber.
