The Massachusetts Legislature approved a bill to provide veterans with improved services and support as they return from war during difficult times.
The bill was signed into law by Gov. Deval Patrick on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. "The brave men and women that have given so much for this country deserve every bit of help that we can provide," said state Rep. Brian Dempsey. "We owe everything to these heroes. My colleagues and I are proud to be able to let our veterans know that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has the utmost respect for them and their sacrifices."
The law includes electronic absentee ballot voting for residents serving overseas and creates a hiring preference for service-disabled veterans for public works projects.
