Last week’s photo (right) was of Merrimack River waters rising to the tops of first-floor doorways of Merrimack Street buildings during the Flood of 1936. The Gazette received correct answers from Milton Taylor, Henri Seymour of Lawrence, Georgette Tattan of Hampstead, Paula Cardran of Bradford, Robert Takesian of Haverhill, and Lloyd Smith of Punta Gorda, Florida. Jean Mitchell and Robert Takesian, both of Haverhill, gave correct answers to a previously published photo of the Strand Theater fire that happened Oct. 17, 1936.
