Osteoporosis is topic of senior lunch program: Osteoporosis – What You Should Know, a senior lunch presentation with Orthopedic surgeon Eugene Brady, MD, will be held on June 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first-floor auditorium. The menu includes garden salad, roast pork loin with applesauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, whole green beans, tapioca pudding or apple pie, coffee and tea. Free medical seminar: PSA Testing Controversies, a medical Meet the Expert seminar with Urologic Surgeon Christopher Birdsall, MD will be held on June 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first-floor auditorium, 140 Lincoln Ave. Birdsall will discuss the Preventive Services Task Force PSA screening recommendations, the American Urologic Association PSA screening guidelines and appropriate PSA use in the screening and monitoring setting. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. One contact hour in nursing is awarded at the end of the presentation. Learn about growing medicinal herbs: Herbalist Suzanne Wicks will present a program titled “Culinary Herbs with a Medicinal Twist” on June 5 at 10 a.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Learn the history of four herbs, how to grow and use them, and whether they have medicinal properties. Participants will plant an herb patio garden and receive recipes for using these four herbs. A door prize will be provided. There is a $10 fee for plants and materials. Trip to the Boston Pops: The Council on Aging will host a trip to the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall on June 7. John Williams will conduct a program titled “Film Night,” which includes much of his cinematic music. Scores from “Star Wars,’’ “Jaws,’’ “Indiana Jones,’’ “ET,’’ “Harry Potter’’ and more will be included in the program. This trip will include a stop at the Prudential Center for shopping or food your own prior to the 8 p.m. show.
