The room will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m., instead of Wednesday and Friday. Special Collections houses Massachusetts Vital Statistics, Haverhill photos, Haverhill High yearbooks, historical information about the city and genealogy resources. :Council on Aging to hold New Year’s Eve Day party in Windham: The Council on Aging and Best of Times will hold a New Year’s Eve Day party at Castleton in Windham, N.H. Entertainment will be provided by “One for the Road,” a Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin tribute. Guests have their choice of maple Dijon glazed port loin w/apple chutney or chicken marsala. :Langley-Adams Library offers winter programs: The Langley-Adams Library in Groveland is offering a variety of programs this winter. Beginner’s Watercolors with Christina Kelly is Jan. 7 from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Materials will be provided. Registration is required as space is limited to 12 people. Local author Andre Dubus will discuss his latest book “Townie: A Memoir” Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a book signing and question-and-answer session. A community pie making and tasting contest is Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. in recognition of National Pie Day. Pies will be judged by librarians, members of the Council on Aging and several known members of the community. The winner will be appropriately rewarded. Bring your pies and your appetites. :Ballet auditions to be held in Lawrence: The New England Civic Ballet will hold open auditions Jan. 6 for all dancers 10 and older from any dance studio for its spring production of Prokofiev’s Cinderella Ballet. Audition times are by age and will begin at 10 a.m. at NECB studios, 4 Dracut St., Lawrence. There is a $15 audition fee, but no performance fees.
