Merchants and residents packed the Northern Essex Community College sports and fitness center for last week’s Cross Border Expo.
The fourth-annual event, presented by the Greater Haverhill and Greater Salem, N.H. chambers of commerce, featured 100 vendors representing businesses across the region.
A pro-sports theme marked the event, with Rene Rancourt, known for singing the national anthem before Boston Bruins games, belting out the song to the applause of visitors. Bruins great Terry O’Reilly also attended and had a meet-and-greet with visitors.
Singer Liz Bills of Haverhill, a former contestant on “American Idol,’’ performed for the crowd.
Expo organizers also gave away a cruise and other raffle prizes. Pentucket Bank was the event’s major sponsor.
