Free concert in downtown Columbus Park

Here are other community activities coming up:

Free outdoor concert series continues: The Bradford Common free Outdoor Music Series continues with a performance by Lee Lewis & the Ladies of Chanel on Aug. 2.

Opening acts in the series begin at 6 p.m. on Bradford Common, followed by featured acts at 7 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets. All performances are sponsored by the First Church of Christ and are free. Mike Cesati & Company performs Aug. 9 and the Mike Fioretti Band performs Aug. 16. The Aug. 23 show will be announced. TOTS-n-TYKES Tuesday: Winnekenni Castle’s next Tots-n-Tykes Tuesday event is Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. The program’s theme is “Peace, Love and Tie Dye!” and is recommended for ages 2 and up.

The cost is $8 per child. Online pre-registration is required at www.winnekenni.com or www.imajinethat.com. Teachers from Little Sprouts & Imajine That will guide children through educational and creative workshops designed to stimulate little minds.

Learn about asthma treatment and prevention: Update on Asthma: Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention, a medical Meet the Expert seminar with Steward Medical Group primary care physician Maysabel Aponte, MD will be held on Aug. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first floor auditorium, 140 Lincoln Ave.

Learn to recognize the symptoms of asthma, understand new guidelines for maintenance and rescue therapy, and understand keys to prevention of acute and chronic symptoms. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. One contact hour in nursing is awarded at the end of the presentation.
