Library events this month
The public library is offering a variety of events in August.
Here are the dates, times and details:
Author Sara J. Henry will discuss her new book “A Cold and Lonely Place,” a follow up to her acclaimed debut “Learning to Swim” on Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Milhendler Room. All are welcome at this Adult Summer Reading Social event.
Community Writers Group meets Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Milhendler Room. Share your work with other local writers, seek advice, and brainstorm your upcoming projects. Please note this is an informal, unstructured group.
Local author Edith Maxwell will talk about her new book, “A Tine to Live, A Tine to Die,” the first book in a new cozy mystery series on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Milhendler Room. All are welcome to drop in for this Adult Summer Reading Social event.
Marcy Yeager will discuss tips and tricks for making the most of your international travel in this International Travel 101 presentation on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Johnson Auditorium. Yeager is coordinator of the international studies program at Northern Essex Community College.
Author and Haverhill native Dave Goudsward will share his new book tracing HP Lovecraft’s ties to the Merrimack Valley on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Milhendler Room.
Provincetown cruise set for Saturday
The Council on Aging is hosting a cruise from Boston to Provincetown on Aug. 3.
Boston Harbor Cruise ship the Salacia will depart from Long Wharf in Boston at 9:30 a.m. A bus will depart from Haverhill at 7:45 a.m. An optional dune buggy tour is available.
Travelers will have ample time to explore the town’s shops and restaurants. Tickets are $94 per person. More information is available from Kathy Bresnahan or Rita LaBella at 978-374-2390.
