Pentucket Bank will relocate its branch office now sitting in the middle of the parking lot in RiversEdge Plaza.
The Bank has purchased a parcel of land adjacent to the parking lot for St. John the Baptist Church, directly across the street from the Haverhill Stadium on Lincoln Avenue.
The land purchase was made final last week, and on Friday a groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of the construction project.
The soon to be former RiversEdge branch will be renamed the Stadium Branch due to its close proximity to the Haverhill Stadium.
"We are in desperate need of a larger, full-service facility to provide more convenience to our customers in the Riverside area of Haverhill," said Scott Cote, president and CEO of Pentucket Bank.
The building will consist of two stories with two drive-up banking bays, drive-in and walk-up ATMs and the traditional services currently being offered at the RiversEdge branch. It will be roughly three times larger than the current branch, measuring 5,800 square feet compared with the current 1,728-square-foot building. It will also include a conference room and a complete basement for-much needed storage as well as a two stall garage where the bank can house its messenger van overnight.
The construction project is being driven by Pentucket Bank Senior Vice President Greg Shaw, who has enlisted the services of Loren Dubois of Maple Leaf Construction, Angelo Petrozzelli of Design Partnership Architects of Haverhill and Paul Bergman of Bergman Associates. Attorney Timothy Schiavoni has also offered guidance to the project. The actual breaking of ground was anticipated by Sept. 1 with a completion date in spring 2011.
"I look forward to seeing this exciting project be completed next year and the benefits it will bring to our customers and staff," Cote said.
