NORTH ANDOVER | Mrs. Eleanor G. (Craig) Meaney, 90, of North Andover, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Prescott House.
She was born in Salem, Aug 7, 1917, daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary A. (Jondro) Craig, and was educated in the Salem Public Schools.
For many years she was employed at Lane Bryant Clothing at the North Shore Mall, and was a member of St. John's Parish.
In 1996 she came to Haverhill to be near her daughter and later became a resident of North Andover.
She was married to the late Joseph P. Meaney who died in 1979, and her survivors include a daughter, Susanne and her husband Charles A. Braid of Fremont, N.H., a grandson, Christopher J. and his wife Pamela Braid of Fremont, N.H.,two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Autumn Braid of Fremont, N.H., and a sister, Helen Beach of Stuart, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, George, Robert, Carol, Dorothy and June.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, were Monday from 8 to 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Jose G. Morel, 74
HAVERHILL | Jose G. Morel, 74, of Haverhill, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Haverhill.
Born in Hatillo, Palma in the Dominican Republic, son of the late Francisco and Rosilia (Fernandez) Morel, he worked first as a policeman in the Dominican Republic and later after moving to the United States in 1963, he was employed as a shipper and receiver for an export/import company in New York.
He has been a resident of Haverhill since 1997.
He is survived by a brother, Mauro A. Morel; and a sister, Celia Morel, both of the Dominican Republic; friends, Richard Usuriello and Doris Donovan, both of Haverhill and Marilyn MacLeod of Boxford, and Gunthilde Perin of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: There were no calling hours. A committal service will be held in the Dominican Republic. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.
William C. Nenno, 80
HAVERHILL | William C. Nenno, 80, a resident of Haverhill for the past three years, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Olean, N.Y. and raised in East Aurora, he graduated from East Aurora High School in 1945 and served in the U.S.Navy at the end of World War II.
Mr. Nenno received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and later his master's degree and his PhD in political science from Georgetown University. A career diplomat, Mr. Nenno worked as a foreign service officer for the U.S. State Department from 1956 until 1982 and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany; Vienna, Austria; Madras, India; Canberra, Australia; Washington; and East Berlin, GDR. With a specialty in political-military affairs, he was a State Department representative for the Mercury Space Project and later helped to establish the first U.S. Embassy in East Berlin.
Following his retirement, he continued to work for the Pentagon, The National Archives and the Department of State until 2003.
A resident of Washington until 2005, Mr. Nenno was a member of the Church of the Little Flower in Chevy Chase, Md. He most recently was a member of St. Luke, The Evangelist Parish of Plaistow, N.H.
He was married to the late Shirley E. (Rickard) Nenno, and is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy P. Nenno, PhD and Michael Marano of Charleston, S.C. and Claudia G. Trombly, MD and Michael W. Trombly of Haverhill' a granddaughter, Tatiana Trombly of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends were invited to attend his funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegheny, N.Y. Mary A. Rumery, 77
DANVILLE, N.H. | Mrs. Mary A. (Hanley) Rumery, 77, a resident of Danville for the past 50 years, died Monday evening, Jan. 14, 2008 at her home.
Born, raised and educated in Amesbury, daughter of the late Thomas A. Sr., and Mary N. (Griskiewicz) Hanley, she attended Saint Joseph School in Amesbury and was a member of the class of 1948 of St. James High School, Haverhill.
Mrs. Rumery and her husband Bernard E. Rumery were the owners and operators of the former Hi-Dees Drive-In of Plaistow for many years and Arbor Homes of Plaistow. She had previously worked at Hadco of Derry, Western Electric Co. of North Andover and as the assistant manager and book-keeper of the former J.J. Newbury Co.
Mrs. Rumery enjoyed spending her summers for many years at Lake Ossipee, N.H., and recently vacationing during the winter months in Florida. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband and scrap booking.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bernard E. Rumery, a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight D. and Rosa Rumery of Wolfeboro, and a daughter and son-in-law, Heidi A. and Kevin McPhelim, of Freeport, Maine, as well as a brother, Robert J. Hanley of Warwick, R.I., a sister, Carol Mosley of East Kingston, N.H., grandchildren, Emily Rumery and Derek Rumery, and a niece, several nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas A. Hanley Jr.

Jason I. Weisman, 73
HAVERHILL | Jason I. Weisman, 73, of Haverhill, died Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2008 after a long illness at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Mr. Weisman graduated from Lawrence High and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He had resided in Haverhill for the past 11 years after having lived in Andover for 26 years.
Mr. Weisman formerly owned and operated Gorham Pharmacy in Lowell and Town Line Pharmacy in Tewksbury. Mr. Weisman then worked at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Bedford for 18 years until he retired in July 2005.
He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge of Masons, Greater Lowell Pharmacists Association and Temple Emanuel of Andover.
Mr. Weisman is survived by his wife, Gail (Gordon); his children, Devra and her husband Stephen Kingman and Robert and his wife Vanessa Weisman. He is also the brother of Morris and his wife Myrna Weisman, Beatrice Kleider and Helen Weisman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron, Deven, Nolan and Logan Kingman, Lucas Weisman and many nieces, nephews, and grandnephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Service at Temple Emanuel, 7 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover was on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Lawrence. Virginia Mae Welch, 69
GROVELAND | Virginia Mae (Leva) Welch, 69, of Groveland, passed on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
She was born in Peabody on Feb. 25, 1938, daughter of the late John and Anna (Raskowski) Leva. She was educated in Peabody graduating from Peabody High School, Class of 1956.
Virginia was the assistant manager at Papa Gino's in Bradford for over 25 years.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing cards and was big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. She especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Edward A. Welch and former wife of the late George Deranian. Her survivors include her children, Judith A. and her husband Michael J. Matheson of Bennington, Vt., George M. Deranian and his wife Lynne A., Debra M. and her husband John C. Boyce, Tracy J. Linskey, Pamela L. Carey, all of Groveland, and Jonathan B. Welch of Chelmsford, stepson Jeffrey D. Welch and his wife Deborah of Bellevue, Wash., sisters, Margaret Roche of Lynn, Eileen Cowhig of Topsfield, and Linda Agersea of Saugus, brothers, John Leva of Fremont, N.H., and William Leva of Salem, Mass., grandchildren, Neil and James Matheson, Derrek and Devon Deranian, John C. Boyce Jr., Mark and Alex Boyce, Mathew Meadows, Emma and Mariah Linskey, and Patrick and Shawn Welch, as well as several nieces and nephews.
