RIO CLARA, Brazil — James P. McCann passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Rio Clara, Brazil, where he resided with his wife of five years, Vanessa Ungari McCann.
He was born in Boston on July 14, 1981 to his beloved mother Colleen M. McCann of Haverhill.
He was raised in Lawrence and educated in local schools. He also attended Northern Essex.
James had many interests, including traveling, music, languages, and the Boston Red Sox. An avid reader, he was never without a book or his faithful dog, Igloo, a Border Collie. James had a wonderful sense of humor; he loved life and could always bring a smile to everyone.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Shelia McCann of Lawrence; brothers, Anthony, Aaron, Tyler and Aidan, who was also his godchild; his good friend, Shawn Luke, all of Haverhill; uncles, Timothy of Lawrence, Bernard and his wife Jean of Haverhill, Daniel and his wife Tracie of North Andover, and their families, his uncle, Danny was also his devoted godfather; special great-aunt, Mary G. Allen of Lawrence; great-aunt, Carmen Pawlik and her husband Michael; cousin, Maureen Salach and her husband Michael, all of North Andover, and their families; his in-laws in Brazil, the Ungari Family; his paternal grandmother, Chantal Jacques of Lawrence; aunt, Cecile and her husband Maurice Bouchard of Methuen; uncle, Cal "CJ" Jacques of Gardner; also other aunts, cousins and friends.
James was predeceased by his father, Yvon Jacques; his grandfather, Adrien Jacques; his uncle, Patrick J. McCann; and his great-uncle, Joseph H. Allen.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, 190 Main St., North Andover, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10 a.m. His cousin, The Rev. Shawn W. Allen will officiate. Donations in James memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
