Haverhill — Lillian B. (Dumoulin) Landry, of Haverhill died at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, on September 8, at the age of 98, in the presence of her family.
Born April 26, 1914 in Taunton., daughter of the late Alfred Joseph (Jr.) and Lea (Marotte) Dumoulin. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Francis M and Hoseanna (Benjamin) Marotte in New Bedford, due to the untimely death of her mother when she was two years old. She graduated from the Parker Street School.
Lillian was a woman of many talents. She worked as a manager in the family's neighborhood store, Landry's Market, at Tinkham and Brook Streets. During the war she was a weaver in a cotton mill, and later worked in quality control and as a foreman at Eastern Sportswear in an upscale children's clothing department of the factory until her retirement. She was a consummate knitter, being a member of the Ushquams, a women’s knitting club, for many years. She enjoyed her summer camp on Long Pond at Buena Vistas Shores in Lakeville, watching the Red Sox, raising pugs, making baby’s hats and outfits for local hospitals and fashion scarves for her acquaintances, and visiting with her great-grandchildren. In 1991, she moved to Haverhill.
The wife of the late Roland Joseph Landry, she is survived by her son, Norman Joseph Landry and his wife Rose-Elaine (Shepherd), grandchildren, Rose Elaine and her husband Kevin Mahan, Serena Marie Clohisy, Mary Rollande and her husband Louis Concemi, all of Haverhill, and Norman Paul Landry of Plaistow NH, and eight great-grandchildren; Michael, Thomas and Shauna Mahan, Joseph and Julia Clohisy, Sarah and Emily Concemi, and Olivia Landry. Lillian leaves a half-sister, Alice R Dumoulin of Fall River, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Paul Joseph Landry, who died in Vietnam, and her sisters, Beatrice Laurette Fiola, of Kingston, Massachusetts, Adrienne Marie Bouchard, and her brother Dorand Henri Dumoulin, both of Fall River.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family, services will be private with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. Arrangements are by the H.L.
