Hendersonville, NC — Joe Glowacki, a retired 27-year employee of Western Electric aka Alcatel Lucent, died at his home in Hendersonville, NC, July 13, with his wife Nancy (Nancy Jillson Glowacki ) at his side. He was a native of the Manhattan area of New York City. After serving two years in the Army, Joe earned a BEE degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Industrial Management, both from Polytechnic Institute of New York University . As an installation engineer manager at Western Electric in Rolling Meadows, Ill. He was a frequent visitor to the Merrimac Valley Western Electric Plant and created long-standing friendships with fellow workers; he also cherished relationships with his wife Nancy’s family, Jillson, Hogan, and Reinfuss , and friendships in this area since she was a graduate of Haverhill High School 1953 and UNH 1957. They returned almost every summer for wonderful reunions with family and friends while enjoying camping in NE. After retirement, he traveled as a quality control consultant for eight more years. They moved to the mountains of Hendersonville, NC 20 years ago from Lake Forest, Ill. Here, Joe transferred his managerial, consulting, and team-building skills to community service; he served on many boards of organizations committed to helping the underserved, promoting juvenile justice and honoring diverse citizen participation in our democracy. Among other affiliations, he was a member of the League of Women Voters of HC, United Religions Initiative, the NAACP chapter of HC, and the Unity Church of Mills River.
