Bradford — Atty. Robert J. Sweeney, 84, of Manchester, N.H., died Thursday morning, October 4, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.
He was born Melrose, April 9, 1928, son of the late James and Lillian (Griffin) Sweeney.
Educated in the Medford school system, Atty. Sweeney graduated from Suffolk Law School and Northeastern Law School. During World War II he served in the United States Army. He was a longtime Clerk of Courts in Salem Superior Court and practiced Law. He enjoyed watching hockey and time spent with his family on Lake Winnisquam.
His survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary (Blake) Sweeney of Manchester, N.H.; a son, David and his wife Pamela Sweeney of Bradford; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sweeney of Londonderry, N.H.; and four grandchildren, Caitie and her husband Ryan McCormack, Kelly, Eric and Casey Sweeney.
Atty. Sweeney was the father of the late Richard Sweeney who died in July, 2012.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Sunday morning, October 28, at 9 in Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St., Bradford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
