Loretta M. Steer, 94


NEWTON, N.H. — Loretta Marie (Morin) Steer, 94, of Newton, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010.

Born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of the late Arthur and Caroline (Dwyer) Morin, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School and was a graduate Haverhill High School, Class of 1935. She worked as a secretary for the Haverhill School Department for 22 years before retiring in 1976.

A member of Mary Mother of the Church in Newton, Mrs. Steer helped organize the Share Program for both Kingston and Newton and was a member of the Haverhill City Club. She often volunteered at the Hale Hospital and was a life member of the Hale Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed crafts.

Mrs. Steer was predeceased by her husband Robert who died in 1988.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Julia Steer of Merrimac; a brother, Albert Morin of Kingston; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Rolan Morin, Eugene Morin, Paul Morin and Leo Morin and four sisters, Maybelle Clocher, Helen St. Onge, Irene Veroneau and Marylou Cerat.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (121A), Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Mary Mother of the Church in Newton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
