ATKINSON, N.H. — Alice Pearl (Smith) Roberts, age 91, of Atkinson, N.H. and former longtime resident of Saugus, died peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Lawrence General Hospital. She was the widow of the late Cecil P. Roberts, who died Jan. 19, 1987.
Born in Newfoundland, Canada, Jan. 22, 1919, daughter of the late Arthur W. and Fannie A. (Stowe) Smith, she was a graduate of Saugus High School.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she moved from Saugus to Big Island Pond in Atkinson, N.H. with her husband over 25 years ago.
Alice enjoyed playing cards with her many friends and family at her lakeside home in Atkinson. She loved line dancing with her many friends from the Salem Senior Center.
Her survivors include her sons, William J. Roberts and wife Sheila of Boxford and Arthur H. Roberts and his late wife Sandra (Palmer) Roberts of Merrimac; her grandchildren, Arthur Roberts Jr. and wife Danielle, Jennifer Guider and husband James, William Roberts Jr., Matthew Roberts, Colleen Biscomb and husband John, and Todd Porter; four great-grandchildren, James Guider Jr., Jillian Guider, Courtney Navarro and T. J. Graziose, all of whom will miss her loving, caring ways. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tammy and her brother, William James Smith.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill, will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services for relatives and friends will he held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson, N.H.
