Groveland — Thomas William Parker, age 57, of Groveland, died Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after a long and courageous battle with a myriad of illnesses.
Born in Haverhill, June 17, 1955, son of the late Allan and Faith (Hill) Parker, he grew up in Groveland attending Groveland schools and graduated from Pentucket Regional High School in 1973.
Tom was a nuclear certified welder who also worked on heavy equipment.
Always quick with a smile, he had a robust love for life, family and friends. He had a way of putting people at ease, often within 15 minutes he would know their life’s story. Strangers were truly friends he just hadn’t met.
Tom enjoyed nature and just being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time at his family camp,Troutdale, near The Forks in Maine. Tom was also a member of the Big Bucks Club of Maine..
A loyal friend, he will be remembered for his kindness and generosity- he always offered a helping hand to those in need.
His survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Nancy Sweetser of Groveland; his brothers, Kevin Parker and wife Corrina of Norridgewock, ME and Allan Parker and wife Raylene of Auburndale, FL; his sister, Ethel Bruni and husband David of Dade City, FL; his former sister-in-law, Lucille Parker of Lexington; his aunts, Rachel Carter and husband Harvard of Epping, NH and Ruth Currier and husband Roland of Haverhill; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Zaoutsos.
ARRANGEMENTS: A “Celebration of Life” service is planned for sometime in June, 2013, and will be announced by Paul C. Rogers Family-Scatamacchia Funeral Home of 334 Main Street, Haverhill.
