Gordon W. Clark,

Gordon Wentworth Clark died peacefully at the Ridge of River Woods Retirement Community in Exeter, NH on April 14, 2012. He was born and grew up in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Eugene Clark and Brenda Macdonald Clark.

He is survived by his wife, artist Barbara Hayward Clark and three children Rachel Clark Daniels and her husband Ray of Andover, MA, Thomas W. Hayward and wife Barbara of Elkhart, IN, and Lucy Krueger and her husband Klaus of Altena, Germany; and seven grandchildren David and Rebecca Daniels, Stephen, Peter and Jillian Hayward, and Clarissa and Marius Krueger. He was predeceased by his first wife Jane Evans Clark and his daughter Rebecca Elizabeth Clark.

He graduated from Northeastern University at the top of his class in Mechanical Engineering, and later received a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, NY. He worked with early computers, designing control systems for paper and textile plants.

His hobbies included refinishing furniture, researching genealogy, gardening, hiking and traveling with his wife; also he was a UNH Marine Docent, and publicist for “We the People” lecture series. Church played an important part in his life; he was an active lay visitor and deacon for the Congregational Church in Exeter.

ARRANGEMENTS: A public celebration of his life will be held May 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Congregational Church in Exeter, 21 Front Street, Exeter, NH.
