Haverhill — Lillian S. (Kramer) Gordett, 101, of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, April 29, at the Eddy Village Green Nursing Home in Cohoes, N.Y. following a wonderful, long life.
She was born in Haverhill on Sept. 4, 1912, the daughter of Esther (Cohen) and Herman Kramer. She was married to Louis Gordett, also of Haverhill; (1901-1990). For over seven years, Lillian lived with her daughter, Malva, in Newton, Mass. until she moved to the nursing home very close to her daughter, Marea’s home.
Lillian graduated from Haverhill High School. She donated her time to many Jewish and civic organizations, including the Hale Hospital Auxiliary and the first recycling program begun in Haverhill in the 1960s. This legacy lives on in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, as they followed her example, becoming passionate stewards of the environment. Until her move to Newton, she was especially involved in the Haverhill Jewish Scholarship Loan Association and served as the organization’s longtime treasurer.
She is survived by her two daughters, Malva Gordett, and her husband, Michael Drossos of Newton, Mass., and Marea Gordett and her husband, Thomas Morrissey of Latham, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Shira Drossos and her husband, Juan Carlos Cabeza of New York City, Marissa Drossos and her husband, Robert Kordenbrock of Boston, and Daniel Morrissey of Albany, N.Y.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday morning, May 1 at 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill.
