North Andover, MA — Anna P. O’Connor, 97, a resident of North Andover, died on December 3, 2013, at the Sutton Hill Center in North Andover. She was born on February 15, 1916, in Bradford, Mass., to the late John Henry and Annie Marie (Conlin) O’Brien. Raised in Bradford, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1933, before furthering her education by graduating from Macintosh Business School. She also attended Harvard University, and was instrumental in the setup of their genealogy department.
She was employed for many years at Western Electric, and served her fellow employees as a union official until her retirement. She ran the Gold Star Mothers for many years following her son, Brian’s death in Vietnam, and was very active in the North Andover community, where she served on the board of the housing authority. She was honored for her service when the town dedicated O’Connor Heights in her name.
Anna is survived by her grandchildren, Wendy LaHaye of Somerville, and Peter LaHaye and his wife, Kari, of Gilbert, Ariz.; great-granddaughter, Jordan LaHaye; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter O’Connor; son, Brian O’Connor; and daughter, Anne LaHaye; son-in-law, Richard LaHaye; as well as her siblings, John, Thomas, Cornelius, Paul, and Joseph O’Brien, and Christine O’Brien-Hogg.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 5, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michaels Church in North Andover, on Thursday, at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Ridgewood Cemetery.
