HAVERHILL — William J. Granacki, Sr., 86, of Haverhill, MA and formerly of Rome, NY died Sunday evening, January 22, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
He was born in Michigan City, Indiana, June 21, 1925, son of the late Julius and Mary (Orzolek) Granacki. He was educated in Rome, NY school system. In 1952 Mr. Granacki graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor's Degree. During World War II, from June 1943 to February 1946, he served with the United States Marine Corps and was part of the Occupation of Okinawa, Palau Island Campaign and Saipan Campaign. For over 30 years he was employed as a Computer Analyst for the Federal Government. Mr. Granacki was a member of the American Legion, Haverhill.
He was the husband of the late Beatrice "Bea" V. (Brown) Granacki who died in 2005, after 58 years of marriage, and father of the late Richard A. Granacki. His survivors include three sons, William J. Granacki, Jr. and his wife Pauline M. of Derry, NH, Robert J. Granacki and his wife Cheryl S. of Somersworth, NH, Kenneth J. Granacki and his wife Yvette of Beverly, three daughters, Mary L. King and her husband David E. of Phillips, ME, Virginia A. "Ginger" Saulnier and her husband Richard Groveland, Lisa A. Darnell and her husband Jacob of Amesbury, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral service Friday morning, January 27, at 11:00 from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. A visitation period will precede the Funeral service from 10:00 to 10:45 on Friday at the funeral home.
