Sandown, NH — Barbara Herbert, 88, of Sandown, NH, and formerly of Bradford, MA, passed away August 8, 2012 at the Lawrence General Hospital. Born on July 22, 1924 in Portsmouth, NH, she was the beloved wife of the late George E. Herbert. Together they raised five children. She is survived by her sister, Polly Cash of Epping, NH, children, Judith & Gary Guptill Kingston, NH, Carol & Ronald Rossetti of Scarborough, ME, Stephen Herbert of Truro, MA, Jane & William Walker of Miami, FL, and James & Lisa Herbert of South Kingstown, RI; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A child of the depression, she married her sweetheart, a Navy officer, during the early days of WWII, and waited three years for his return from the South Pacific. After raising her family, at age 52, she finally realized a lifelong dream to go to college, graduating Cum Laude. She was a life-long learner and was young at heart.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service to celebrate her life on Sept. 29, at 11:00 AM, in the Elmwood Cemetery, Salem St. Bradford; followed by a reception to be held locally. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
