Robert C. Kinsman, 91

Robert C. Kinsman, 91, of Haverhill peacefully passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

A 1921 New Year’s Day baby, he was born in Haverhill to the late Alfred O. Kinsman Sr. and his wife Hilda (Williams) Kinsman.

A proud graduate of the Haverhill High Class of 1938, he attended college in Boston. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. During wartime, his older brother, Alfred O. Kinsman Jr., was killed in the Battle of the Bulge.

After returning from war, Robert worked 43 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a parcel postman and letter carrier in Haverhill.

An active member of the First Church of Christ in Bradford, he was also a parishioner at Hampton Beach Community Church during his years living in Hampton, N.H. He held leadership roles with each church and his postal union, and was involved in the Boy Scouts of America.

A devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and Red Sox, Robert was a season ticket-holder for the former New England Whalers. He enjoyed tending to his rose garden.

His first wife, Marjorie M. (Wheeler) Kinsman, passed away following their 25th wedding anniversary. He is survived by Ethel E. (Hayden) Kinsman of Haverhill, his wife of nearly 43 years. Robert’s survivors include his children: Robert G. Kinsman and his wife Tina of North Hampton, NH; Alan D. Kinsman of Hampton; Donna J. (Kinsman) Grosky and her husband Geoffrey of Bradford; and Diane (Goodwin) Lavallee and her husband Stephen of Haverhill. Robert is missed by eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by Ethel’s son, John Goodwin.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service on Thursday, Feb. 16th at 11:00 at the First Church of Christ, 10 Church St., Bradford. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Calling hours at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home will be Wednesday, Feb. 15th from 4-7 pm.
