Beatrice R. Rosenfield, 90
HAVERHILL | Beatrice R. (Riseberg) Rosenfield, 90, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport.
She was born in Malden, Aug. 22, 1917, daughter of the late Aaron and Sarah (Petrank) Riseberg, and was educated in the Malden school system.
A Haverhill resident for 72 years, Mrs. Rosenberg was member of Temple Emanu-El, its Hadassah, Ladies Helping Hand and was past president of both Temple Emanu-El Friendship Group and the Jewish War Veterans.
Devoted to her children, Mrs. Rosenfield was active in their Parent Teacher Associations.
She was the wife of the late Albert Rosenfield who died in 1981 and her survivors include a daughter, Carole Daniels of Natick; three sons, Kenneth Rosenfield and Sheere Molloy of Salisbury, Arthur and Marion Rosenfield of New York, N.Y., Gary and Ann-Marie Rosenfield of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; grandchildren, Glen Daniels of Arlington, Paul and Michele Greenberg of Bellingham, Frank and Jori Pelligrine of New York, Scott Rosenfield of Connecticut, Zoe and Jake Rosenfield of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Evan Rosenfield of Virginia, Becki Last of Maryland, Elliott Leavitt of California; great-grandchildren, Ben and Rina Sabath-Leavitt of New Jersey; as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend the funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. in Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill. Burial was in Lebanon Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Danvers. The memorial observance will be private. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford. Murray E. Scott, 74
HAVERHILL | Murray E. Scott, 74, of Haverhill died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
He was born in Haverhill on Nov. 7, 1933, son of the late Henry O. and Marjorie B. (Middleton) Scott.
He attended the Haverhill schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1951. Mr. Scott was employed at the former Richey Drug for 10 years then at the former Western Electric for 10 years. He was also seasonally employed at the IRS in Andover.
Mr. Scott was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Haverhill.
He is survived by his sister, Janice E. and her husband John P. Hazelton of Troy, N.H.; aunt, Nathalie Tisdale of Keene, N.H.; nephew, John Scott Hazelton and his wife Susan of Westford; niece, Janet Hazelton of Proctor, Vt.; two grandnephews and a grandniece.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Grace K. Somma, 98
PLAISTOW, N.H. | Grace K. (Panaro) Somma, 98, a resident of the town since 1958, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Born in Bari, Italy, daughter of the late Lorenzo and Grace (Renda) Panaro, she came to this country as a child and settled in Haverhill.
She attended local schools and worked in the local shoe industry, retiring from Karelis Wood Heel Co.
A member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and the former St. George Parish of Haverhill, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
The wife of Angelo A. Somma, who died in 1996, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Somma and Lyn Sweetser-Somma of Haverhill; two daughters, Pauline Young of Plaistow and Carol McCarthy of Haverhill; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothy Panaro of Haverhill; two sisters, Pauline Blasi of Haverhill, and Agnes Eafalla of Windham; four grandchildren, Pamela Kneeland and her husband Earl, Anthony T. Somma and his wife Maureen, Jeffrey Somma and his wife Karen and Robert Young and his wife Kristin; also 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Somma was also predeceased by three brothers, John, Joseph and Frank Panaro; three sisters, Katherine Romatelli, Mary Pappalardo, and Rose Kodis; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Somma; and sons-in-law, John P. McCarthy and Arthur L. young.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends called on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial followed at 1 p.m. in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill.
Sarah Ursano, 93
HAVERHILL | Sarah Ursano, 93, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at Wingate at Haverhill.
She was born in Haverhill, Oct. 26, 1914, daughter of Vincent and Catherine (Costantino) Aiello.
She was educated in Haverhill schools.
She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish.
Mrs. Ursano was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her whole focus in life was on her family. She was a very creative homemaker and cook.
She was the wife of the late Louis Ursano. She is survived by four daughters, Marie Cardamone of Des Moines, Iowa, Gloria LaBonte of Haverhill, Patricia Deroian and Joanne Kennedy of Bradford; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ursano of Haverhill; six grandchildren, Teresa Nimry of Des Moines, Iowa, Sara McBride of Medlothian, Va., Catherine Rawson of Los Angeles, Lauri LaBonte-Willet of Newton, N.H., Debra Deroian-Anderson of Acushnet, and Steven Deroian of Brookline. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ursano was the mother of the late Anthony D. Ursano.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral was held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 358 Washington St. followed by a Mass of the Resurrection in Sacred Hearts Church at 9 a.m. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Matthew D. Winchell, 30
HAVERHILL | Matthew D. Winchell, 30, of Bradford, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 in Andover as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Matthew was born in Methuen and was raised and educated in Salem, N.H.
He lived most of his life in Salem, N.H., moving to Bradford at the time of his marriage.
Matthew worked as a kitchen manager at Chili's Restaurant, Burlington.
He was an avid sports fan and was very devoted to his family and his two sons. His family members include his wife, Alison M. (Conti) Winchell of Bradford; and his two sons, Keegan Matthew Winchell and Brody Michael Winchell, both of Bradford. He has a brother, Todd P. King of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and a sister, Gio Winchell of Salem, N.H. Matthew leaves his mother and step-father, Paula J. and Michael Church of Pelham, N.H.; and his father, Richard Winchell of Tampa, Fla. He leaves his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Robin Conti of Haverhill; and two brothers-in-law, Anthony and his wife Lisa Conti and Michael Conti, both of Haverhill. He has several aunts uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were on Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Robert McGauley, 91
Jacksonville, Florida — Robert E. McGauley died January 11, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born to Joseph and Frieda McGauley in Haverhill, Massachusetts on September 27, 1922, he graduated from Haverhill High School in 1939. After joining the Army in 1943, Bob served with the 75th Infantry Division, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and honorably discharged in 1946 with a Purple Heart. After marrying his sweetheart, Kathryn Ryan, Bob attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1954 they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Bob joined State Farm Insurance Companies in 1958 as an agent. After three years he was appointed Agency Manager and continued in that position for 20 years until retiring in 1980. During those years he was a charter member and past president of the Arlington Toastmasters Club and president of GAMA (General Agents and Managers Association). After retiring he loved to play golf, but especially loved to sing, as he had all his life. In WWII he was the vocalist with the Army Hospital dance band in Europe and performed in many musical productions during his military service and in college, especially favoring Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas. Bob was a church soloist all his adult life and wrote church music. He was the former choir director, a 44-year choir member and past treasurer of Arlington Congregational Church. He also had a great love of barbershop singing and sang for many years with the River City Barbershop Chorus. He leaves his son, Richard (Nancy); daughters, Barbara Jean Wick (Alan), Laurie Nowlin (Carrol); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his sister, Florence. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Kathryn, and two brothers, Henry and Herman.Continued ...

Jean was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she was an active volunteer within the church.
