Haverhill, MA — Nancy McGregor was born Feb. 12, 1945 in National City, Calif. She was living in the Riverside section of Haverhill with her companion, Tim Sullivan, when she died at home, June 22, 2014, after a short illness.
Nancy graduated from Northern Essex Community College, reaching her goal to be an RN. She worked at a number of nursing homes in Haverhill and was well-known for her kindness, compassionate care, outgoing personality and her special gift of caring for the elderly.
Nancy’s love for life extended to animals as well. While growing up she had dogs, Peter, Laddie, and Tobey, but cats became her first love. She kept it simple with their names. The first two were Brother and Sister. The next three were X, Y, and Z. Then came, Mr. Gray.
In addition to her companion, Tim, she is survived by her brother, Bill and wife, Ruth of Catskill, N.Y.; brother, Richard and wife, Sharon of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a niece, Jennifer (McGregor) Watson, Sunrise, Fla.; and nephews, Jonathan McGregor, Albany, N.Y., Dr. Sean McGregor, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Dr. Andrew McGregor, Danbury, Conn.; along with current cats, BooBoo and MoeMoe, and many dear friends who will miss Nancy, and who stopped by to visit and encourage her during the short illness.
ARRANGEMENTS: Nancy chose not to have a funeral service, but to be cremated, and her ashes buried with her mother and father, Gertrude and Henry McGregor in Amesbury.
