Ann Arbor, MI — Jean Elaine Clement, of Ann Arbor, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at Arbor Hospice Residence. She was 85 years old. Born November 29, 1928, in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of Eston L. and Alice E. (Rooney) Spaulding. On September 13, 1953, Jean married Charles W. “Bill” Clement in Haverhill, MA. Bill and Jean moved to Ypsilanti in 1954 and to Ann Arbor in 1970. She retired from the Ann Arbor Public Schools in 1986, after seventeen years as a secretary. Jean was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she was an active volunteer within the church. Loved by all who knew her, she was known for her giving heart and selfless spirit, always putting others first. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles W. “Bill” Clement of Ann Arbor; their three children, sons, Charles D. Clement (Rosanna) of Dexter, Richard K. Clement (Kathy) of Brooklyn, and daughter, Susan Leach of Ypsilanti; seven grandchildren, Lisa Clement, Charlie Clement (Deana), Matt Clement (Bobie), Emily Leach, Kelly Clement, Sabrina Gamig (Jason) and Jennifer Leach as well as three sisters, Betty Jackson, Connie Hosford and Jacquelyn Bologna, all of Haverhill, MA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2250 E. Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor, MI 48104, with Reverend Father James Conlon officiating. Interment will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nie Family Funeral Home, Liberty Road Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. There will be visitation on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
