Derry, NH — Claire I. Santore, 88, of Derry, N.H., died Friday, August 9, 2013, in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry surrounded by her loving daughters and caregivers. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., on November 18, 1924, a daughter of the late Herbert and Clara (Marchant) Demers. She had been a resident of Derry for the past six years, formerly living in Londonderry. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Mass. Claire (“Mama”) will be remembered as a warm and wonderful person and a kind and caring mother who loved life, laughter and family.
She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Besson of Santa Monica, Calif., Virginia Roosevelt of Newport, R.I., and Melanie Cull of Monroe, Conn.; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Demers of Seabrook, N.H.; two sisters, Virginia McCarthy of Milton, Mass., and Nancy Potvin of New Britain, Conn.; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald D. Santore in 2008.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were held on Sunday, August 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The burial was in the High Street Cemetery in Hampton, N.H.
