San Ramon Calif. — Eric Christofferson, 73, of San Ramon Calif. died on November 10. Born in Newburyport and raised in West Newbury.
Eric graduated from Newburyport High School in 1957, and earned a B.S. in Geology from Princeton. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, then went on to earn his PhD in Oceanography from URI. He taught at URI, Rutgers, and Howard. Eric retired from Lawrence Livermore Labs, where he was head of the Environmental Monitoring Division.
Eric is survived by his wife, Ann Ruth, of San Ramon; sons, Daniel of New Jersey, and Peter of New York; as well as his grandson, Daniel Jr. of New Jersey. He is survived by his brothers, Paul of West Newbury, James Jr. of Merrimac, and Karl of Kingston, N.H; sisters, Karen Allwood of Delaware, Faye Frigault of Sagamore Beach, and Claire Franklin of Haverhill. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Ruth (Girroir) Christofferson. He also leaves a large extended family and many friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a celebration of Eric's life next summer.
