Helen L. Palmer, 92

Haverhill — Helen L. (Whittaker) Palmer, 92, of Haverhill, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Wingate at Haverhill Rehab & Skilled Nursing Residence .

She was born August 16, 1920, the only child of the late Harry and Marguerite (Collins) Whittaker.

Helen was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School. After graduating, she was employed as a laborer in the local shoe industry and later at Western Electric from where she retired after 20 years. Helen enjoyed playing the ukulele and as a child sang on the radio at Radio City Music Hall.

Helen is survived by her son, Robert L. Palmer and his wife, Linda of Andover; an ex-husband, Richard J. Palmer; two granddaughters, Jessica and Jon Roy of Lee, N.H. and Samantha and Kevin Lampron of Ashland, MA; three great-granddaughters, Neely Roy, Abby Roy and Mia Lampron.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service in St. James Cemetery on January 14, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to, the Wingate at Haverhill Activity Fund, 190 North Ave Haverhill, MA. 01830.
