Haverhill — After a brief illness, Laura E. (McNamara) Brown passed away into the arms of Our Lord on August 18.
She was born in Bradford (Haverhill), Mass., on December 12, 1925, to Lawrence I. and Laura (Lennox) McNamara.
After graduating from St. Mary's H.S., Rutherford, N.J., and earning a Bachelor Degree from Marywood College, Scranton, Pa., in 1948, Laura began a more than thirty year career as a dietician at the Polyclinic Hospital in Manhattan and St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, N.J. She lived for many years in Rutherford, N.J., and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and was past President of Post 139 Lyndhurst, N.J., before returning to Haverhill in 1997.
Laura was predeceased by her loving husband, John Brown, and five siblings.
She will be missed and remembered by her sister, Joan Vehrkens of Garfield, N.J.; brother, John M. McNamara and his wife, Uta, of Vancouver, BC; eight nephews and many other relatives and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral Wednesday morning, August 28, at 10 a.m. from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington, N.J.
