Mary-Ellen (O"Neil) Eason, 79


HAVERHILL — Mary-Ellen O'Neil Eason, 79, died August 20, in Haverhill. Born in Clyde, N.Y., on Dec. 1, 1932, Mrs. Eason was the daughter of George and Helen (Mulchahey) O'Neil. She lived in Haverhill since early childhood and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Mary-Ellen received a paralegal certificate from Suffolk University. She worked for many years at law offices in Haverhill and Exeter, N.H. However, her largest job by far was raising her five children and all of the pets which came from that task.

Mary-Ellen was a partner with her husband in the ownership of the Kaleidoscope Gallery in downtown Haverhill. They enjoyed traveling together in regional craft shows. They also traveled for pleasure and enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Mary-Ellen found great pleasure in nature, especially along the shore. She loved exploring antique stores, reading, playing cards, Scrabble, and computer Solitaire. At other times in life, she enjoyed swimming, knitting, and vacationing in Maine. She also enjoyed serving on her High School Reunion Committee. Her yearbook quote "Melancholy I have no use for you by golly." will help us through our sadness at this time.

Mary-Ellen is survived by a son, Raymond F. Eason II of Haverhill; four daughters, Robin T. Panico and her husband Dave of West Hurley, N.Y., Romana Hatch and her husband Don of Andover; Rachael McLean and her husband Dan of Shutesbury, and Regina Eason of Flagstaff, Ariz.;a sister, Patricia Pike of Haverhill; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Carole O'Neil of Groveland; A sister-in-law and her husband, Sylvia and Tony Puopolo of Silver Lake, N.H. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Matt and Jessi Panico, Sam and Ben Hatch, and Abby McLean, and many caring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond F. Eason; her parents George and Helen O'Neil; and two brothers William and Jack O'Neil.

ARRANGEMENTS: Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul C. Rogers Family-Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main St. Haverhill. A memorial in her honor will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6 at the funeral home , with burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 395 North Broadway, Haverhill. Donations may be made in Mary-Ellen's name to the Haverhill Public Library.
