Haverhill — Alma Mae (Snow) Foster, age 86, longtime Haverhill resident, died early Monday morning, December 31, 2012 at Penacook Place in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Foster, who died June 5, 1992.
Born in Boston, January 22, 1926, she was one of twelve children of the late Charles E. and Ruth E. (Yearigle) Snow and had attended Haverhill High School.
Alma had worked as a stitcher at the Johnson Marker Shoe Company on Essex Street in Haverhill and in her retirement, worked for her sister, Ruth, taking care of the elderly.
Alma was dedicated to her family and always enjoyed spending time with them, creating many happy memories to treasure forever. She was a simple woman who loved walking, enjoyed playing bingo and the slots at Atlantic City and Foxwoods.
Her beloved family members include three sons, Robert Foster and wife, Anne of Danville, N.H., Brian Foster and wife, Michelle of Haverhill and Scott Foster of Palmetto, Fla.; one daughter, Bonnie Fleming of Dracut; her precious nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Snow of Vermont and Charles Snow of Danville, N.H.; her sister, Nancy Tilden and husband, Paul of Atkinson, N.H.; along with several generations of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her tender loving ways . She was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Snow and Richard Snow; six sisters, Evelyn “Doll” Henderson; Geraldine “Snookie” Gibbs, Minnie George, Ruth DeVeau, Virginia Hartmann and baby, Marilyn Snow.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private family graveside service will be held at the Willow Grove Cemetery in Newton, N.H. By request of the family there will be no visiting hours. Donations in her memory may be made to, the Penacook Place Employee Fund, 150 Water Street, Haverhill, MA 01830 or the the charity of the donor’s choice.
