Formerly of Haverhill — Arnold Gordon Gofstein, PhD., 83, of Lexington, and formerly of Haverhill died Tuesday morning, January 29, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington. He was born in Haverhill, March 3, 1929, son of the late Max H. and Rose M. (Weiner) Gofstein.
Educated in the Haverhill school system, Dr. Gofstein graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1947. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 1951, his master’s from Boston University in 1953 and his Doctorate in Psychology from BU in 1956.
His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Norma S. (Tocman) Gofstein of Lexington; a son, Mark H. Gofstein and his wife, Rona E. of Lowell;, a daughter, Karen B. Stotsky and her husband, Warren of Newton; five grandchildren, Max and Ethan Gofstein, Jared, Evan and Rebecca Stotsky and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Gofstein was also the brother of the late Ralph, Edward and Bernard Gofstein.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held on Friday morning, February 1 at 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial was in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L.
