ORLANDO, Fla. — Donald Funi, an accountant for 60 years and a graduate of Boston University, passed away Dec. 10th in Orlando, FL.
He leaves his wife of 61 years Rita formerly Rita Sapareto, son Mickey Funi, Maitland, FL, former daughter-in-law Jennie Funi, daughter Funi Burdick and husband David, Portsmouth, NH, two grandchildren Cara Funi, Benjamin Burdick, three sisters Eleanor Coulombe, Doris Moro, Sharleen Houle, and husband Robert.
He was a WWII veteran, flying 22 missions over Japan and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Donald was Haverhill's city treasurer and the youngest ever to have held this position in the state. He also ran for state senator in 1955.
At one time he was president of the Haverhill Exchange Club who supported polio victims at Camp Sea Haven, Plum Island. Cooking was a great interest that he shared with everyone. He was a wonderful husband who loved his family and will be sadly missed.
