HAMPTON FALLS, N.H. — Leona Mae Freeman, age 83, of Hampton Falls, N.H., died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Exeter Hospital.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Haverhill, April 12, 1928, daughter of the late John W. and Mary Alice (McCaughey) Daggett. She was a 1947 graduate of Haverhill High School. She worked many years as a bookkeeper for several area businesses. Mrs. Freeman resided in Amesbury for 10 years before moving to Hampton Falls in 1957, and wintered in Boynton Beach, Fla. for 23 years. She enjoyed playing golf and had been a member of the Exeter Country Club for many years.
Mrs. Freeman shared 50 years of marriage with Robert C. Freeman, who died in 1997. They were predeceased by their sons, David Hamilton Freeman and Richard Charles Freeman, who died in 1970 and 1978 respectively. She was also predeceased by her brother, Phillip Daggett, and two sisters, Rose Maloney and Eleanor Shay. Family members include a brother, James Daggett of Haverhill, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many dear lifelong friends.
