Methuen — Marguerite “Peggy” (Gombar) Stender passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House on Monday, September 30th. She was born on March 24, 1920, to the late Louis and Mary (Hurney) Gombar. Peggy was raised in Throop, PA where she attended Throop High School and graduated from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. She married J. Paul Stender. After the death of her husband, Peggy moved to Massachusetts to be near her youngest child, residing in Methuen until her death.
Peggy is survived by her son, J. Douglas Stender, and his wife Jill Tasker, her daughter, Joan L. Stender, and 2 grandsons, Matthew M. O’Brien, and D. Paul Stender. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Sandra L. (Stender) Kauffman, and her siblings, Helen (Gombar) Martin, Dr. Edward Gombar, Pauline (Gombar) Kowalchik, Mildred (Gombar) Stern, Dr. William Gombar, and Mary (Gombar) Knight. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Gombar family plot at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Arrangements are by H.L.
