Leroy C. Timmons, 73

Haverhill, MA — Leroy C. Timmons, a native and longtime resident of Haverhill, Mass., died on August 28, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

Lee was born in Haverhill on January 22, 1940, to Lester L. and Lucille M. Timmons. He attended St. James School and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1958. After graduation, Lee joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Charles P. Cecil as an electronics technician. Despite suffering from seasickness, he greatly enjoyed his service and had a particular fondness for his time spent in Europe.

A longtime resident of the Riverside section of Haverhill, Lee was a member of the St. John the Baptist Parish, and served as an usher, and a server of Saturday Night Bingo hot dogs. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of Haverhill High School girls athletics and the Detroit Tigers.

Another love of Lee's was the time he spent camping on Lake Ossipee, N.H. Lee had a great circle of friends there who enjoyed boating, relaxing on the beach, and singing along at nighttime campfires. Lee's very distinctive singing voice could be heard far away, to the loving embarrassment of his children.

Lee is survived by four children, Michael L. Timmons of Amesbury, Mass., Leslie A. Brown and Douglas Brown of Ogunquit, Maine, Julie A. Timmons of Haverhill, and Kerrie A. Timmons of Sparks, Md.; two beloved grandchildren, Andrew D. Brown and Kaitlyn E. Brown of Ogunquit; and his sister, Linda C. Timmons-Pelosi and Frank Pelosi.

The family is incredibly grateful to the caring staff at the Kennebunk Center for Health & Rehabilitation. In particular, the care given to Lee by Audrey, Ann, Michelle, and Mary, was of great comfort to Lee and family.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service was held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Haverhill on Wednesday, September 4, at 11 a.m. Services entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a memoriam donation to Hospice of Southern Maine at www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org, or to The Brain Trauma Foundation, www.braintrauma.org.
