Formerly of Haverhill — Sandra K. (Kakides) Makris, 87, of Pelham, NH and former longtime Haverhill resident died Saturday, February 9, at The Oxford, Haverhill.
She was born in Haverhill, June 30, 1925, daughter of the late Harry and Polly (Ginakopolos) Kakides. Mrs. Makris was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School, and earned her Associates Degree from Merrimack College. For over 30 years she was employed at the former Western Electric, No. Andover, from where she retired in 1985.
A longtime member of the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, Mrs. Makris cherished time spent with her family and enjoyed reading, shopping and traveling.
Her survivors include her husband of 64 years, Charles C. Makris of Pelham, N.H.; a daughter, Christa and her husband, Bruce Owens of Pelham, N.H.; a son, Christopher Makris of Pelham, N.H.; two grandchildren, Amanda Currao, Joseph and his wife, Lindsey Currao; a great-grandson, Noah Currao and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Makris was the sister of the late James Kakides.
ARRANGEMENTS: The Makris family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday, February 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Private interment will be in the spring in Pelham, NH. Condolences to her family may be made at
