James T. O'Rourke, 77


WILMINGTON — James Thomas O'Rourke, 77, of Englewood, Fla., lost his battle with ALS on Monday, July 19, 2010 in Glen Allen, Va., surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan (Graham); four children, Thomas of Spring Hope, N.C., Sandra Strohman (Nile) of Glen Allen, Va., Michael (Wendy) of Chichester, N.H. and Jay (Melissa) of Haverhill; one sister, Frances Riley of Billerica; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen (Damon); brothers, Charles and Lawrence; and sisters, Helen Herman and Louise Doran.

He retired from Wilmington to Englewood in 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 7052 in Venice, Fla., Englewood Amateur Radio Society, Overbrook Gardens Assoc., and Aleppo Temple Shriners.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 30, 2010 at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to ALS Assoc. DC/MD/VA Chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855.
