He leaves his children, Dr. Daniel Merrill, architect Patricia Merrill, and Dr. Veterinarian Robert Merrill; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren in the United States and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, his late wife’s hometown.

He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer Canny Holland, and was predeceased by his first wife, Debra Evans of Tamsworth England. He also leaves his beloved children, Jake and Jade Holland, and his sister, Karen, and his two best friends, Indie and River. He was an artist and an avid musician who loved his guitar. He was a devoted father, husband, brother and true friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and loved forever.

    Haverhill, MA — Mrs. Florence L. (Story) Gwynn, a Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Melrose, at age 94. Florence was born on March 10, 1919, in Everett, one of four children of the late Anna (MacFadgen) and Arthur Story. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and graduated from the Seaside Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in California. Florence worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in California. After returning to her Massachusetts roots, Florence settled in Haverhill where she was a longtime member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church. Florence was a woman of strong faith, and supported her Church throughout her 40 years of membership. With a strong desire to help others, she served as a Nurse every summer at the Salvation Army’s High Peak Camp in Colorado. Florence was an independent and strong woman who led a simple life that brought her much joy. She loved spending time with her siblings and their families, and looked forward to yearly family reunions in California. She enjoyed traveling throughout the world, and had a great fondness for animals, especially her many beloved dogs. Later in life, she became an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word search. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, and love for her family. Florence was the devoted sister of the late Elinor Beaudet, Phillip Story, and Edmund Story. Beloved aunt of Robert Beaudet and his wife, Nancy, of Melrose, Roger Beaudet and his wife, Karen, of Salem, NH, Rev. Russell Beaudet and his wife, Rebecca, of Gahanna, OH, Don Beaudet of Malden, Jeanne Beaudet and her late husband, Don, of Everett, Bruce Beaudet and his wife, Karen, of Canada, Lynne Walraven and her husband, Orville, of OK, Paul Storey and his wife, Melissa, of WV, Arthur Storey of CO, Eunice Lucas and her husband, Barry, of Idaho, Millie Bearchell and her husband, Brian, of CA, Beverly Storey Conner and her husband, Grant, of Washington, Robert Storey and his wife, Christa, of CA, Nancy Pack and her husband, Steve, of CA, and the late Phillip Storey, Jr. and Edmund Storey, Jr. Loving cousin of Richard “Bud” Rowland of Woburn. Also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.

  • Robert McGauley, 91

    Jacksonville, Florida — Robert E. McGauley died January 11, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born to Joseph and Frieda McGauley in Haverhill, Massachusetts on September 27, 1922, he graduated from Haverhill High School in 1939. After joining the Army in 1943, Bob served with the 75th Infantry Division, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and honorably discharged in 1946 with a Purple Heart. After marrying his sweetheart, Kathryn Ryan, Bob attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1954 they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Bob joined State Farm Insurance Companies in 1958 as an agent. After three years he was appointed Agency Manager and continued in that position for 20 years until retiring in 1980. During those years he was a charter member and past president of the Arlington Toastmasters Club and president of GAMA (General Agents and Managers Association). After retiring he loved to play golf, but especially loved to sing, as he had all his life. In WWII he was the vocalist with the Army Hospital dance band in Europe and performed in many musical productions during his military service and in college, especially favoring Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas. Bob was a church soloist all his adult life and wrote church music. He was the former choir director, a 44-year choir member and past treasurer of Arlington Congregational Church. He also had a great love of barbershop singing and sang for many years with the River City Barbershop Chorus. He leaves his son, Richard (Nancy); daughters, Barbara Jean Wick (Alan), Laurie Nowlin (Carrol); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his sister, Florence. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Kathryn, and two brothers, Henry and Herman.
