A reminder of the need to defend all marriages

What a great surprise to read your cover story celebrating the "tin-th" anniversary of Tim & Genesio! As the Republican candidates take aim at marriage equality, stories like that published on the front page of our hometown paper remind us that all marriages need defending!

Northern Essex Community College, celebrating its 50th anniversary, marked another milestone this year when it awarded 1,141 certificates and associate degrees. That's a record for the school and represents a 9 percent increase over last year's total. But college President Lane Glenn sees plenty of room for growth. NECC's 10-year plan envisions 1,500 degrees being awarded by 2020. (See story on page 1.)
Continued ...Nothing stimulates me more than a good walk, especially when my grandchildren hit town.
In the midst of all the chaos and bedlam 5-and-unders can present, I encourage them to leave the house for a walk before they wreck it completely.
O'Connor Ives best choice to replace Baddour
To the editor:
Steve Baddour announced his resignation from the State Senate in March, and voters should gear up to choose the next person to represent the 1st Essex District. Several candidates have announced their desire to replace Sen. Baddour on the Democratic ticket, but only one offers the ability to unify the district. That candidate is Newburyport City Councilor At-Large, Kathleen O'Connor Ives. I respectfully ask you to cast your vote for her in Sept. 6 Democratic Primary.
