Letter: Tea Party isn't racist

Tea Party isn't racist

To the editor:

The accusation that Tea Party members are racist is absolutely absurd.

It seems like the race card is always played whenever big government dependents fear that the taxpaying public is focusing too heavily on where our tax dollars are being spent.

I have found that Tea Party members are just everyday folks who may not be eloquent, may not have a lot of money or the backing of any particular political party, but their universal concerns are the same. They are worried about out-of-control spending, the intrusive and massive growth of government, and the fear that their children and grandchildren will not have the opportunities that were offered to us.

Before you give any weight to the all too frequently used accusation of racism, please attend a Tea Party meeting. These meetings are open to everyone. You may meet some of your friends and neighbors there and you can see for yourself democracy in action.
