Last week's photo showed the First National Bank at the corner of Emerson and Merrimack streets. It was decked out in bunting for the city's 300th birthday celebration in 1940.

Correct answers were received by Gerry Danforth, Robert Takesian, Sandy Channen, Lee and Donna Hurst, Pat O'Malley, James Houston and Stanley Hamel.

Robert Takesian also submitted the correct answer for the previous week's photo, which was the old Gale Hospital on Main Street.

If you have a photo that is sure to bring back memories, please get it to us by any of the means listed above.

If you're a fan of historical newspaper photos, be sure to stop by the former Antiques Marketplace at 90 Washington St. on Saturday, Aug. 14, for the Gazette's photo exhibit as part of River Ruckus. "Today's News, Tomrrow's History" includes photos from the last 50 years of The Haverhill Gazette.
