Fiorentini is a proven leader
To the editor: In the upcoming election, we have a choice between an experienced mayor who is a proven leader and a candidate who has much less experience.
Over the past six years, Mayor Fiorentini has led Haverhill from the brink of receivership and bankruptcy. I remember when he took office — no one thought that the city could get by without going into receivership or having to pass an override.
Mayor Fiorentini brought in more than $100 million in new investment in our downtown. If you drive down Essex, Locke or Locust streets you can see what he has done for our city.
The other candidate is probably a very good person, but he has never run a business — big or small — never managed a city and never negotiated a single union contract.
We are in the midst of the worst recession in 70 years. This is no time for on-the-job training. I'll be sticking with Jim Fiorentini in this election. He has the proven leadership we need.
