In high school basketball, they are rarely seen. They sit on the bench with their warm-ups suits on and are generally more suited for the junior varsity team.&lt;br /&gt;
For the Whittier girls basketball team, that's all different. The Wildcats are leaning on four freshmen to be key cogs in the rotation, and the results have been superb.

        Two Haverhill wrestlers are going to the state finals. Freshman Orlando Rojas and senior Parris Williams finished in the top four of their respective weight classes in the Division 1 Sectional Tournament to advance. Rojas will compete at 120 pounds and Williams at 152 pounds on Friday in the MIAA Division 1 State Tournament at Weymouth High School. The Hillies concluded the regular season with a 42-41 victory over Acton-Boxborough last Wednesday.

        The United States Olympic Hockey team dramatically took home the gold medal in Lake Placid in 1980, and 32 years later a Haverhill team has also taken home the gold.&lt;br /&gt;
The Haverhill-Pentucket Bantam Thunder took first place in the American Cup hockey tournament in Lake Placid earlier this month, beating teams from New York, Philadelphia and Ontario.
