The Hillies freshman baseball season is nearing an end.
"With only four games left our goal is to finish above .500," said coach Larry O'Brien, whose team stands at five wins, seven losses.
The final games are against Tewksbury, Methuen, Chelmsford and Billerica. The past week was much better for the team, with two wins and one loss.
The week began with a victory over Dracut by a score of 8 to 1.The offense was led by Tommy Morgan who went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Dan Burrows and Curtis Robart also drove in two runs apiece. Sean Wrenn went 6.1 innings for the win.
"As the game went on he got stronger, striking out seven batters," said coach Larry O'Brien.
Next up was Lawrence, who won, 12 to 2.
"We could only muster up four hits as we went back into taking too many pitches. If we are aggressive with the bats we seem to do much better," O'Brien said.
The week ended with a victory against a strong Andover team, 5 to 4. The big hit of the game came in the first inning with Luis Matrille hitting a long triple to knock in two runs. Haverhill got a strong pitching performance from Nick Comei, Tommy Morgan and Anthony Green.
