---- — The Boys & Girls Club's basketball and floor hockey leagues continued showing the skill of club members.

The latest series of games featured some close tilts.

Here are details:

JV League Floor Hockey, Game 6

Align Credit Union has a six-game winning streak after its a 3-1 win over JNR Gutters.

Tyresse Gutierrez scored the first goal of the game in the first period for JNR Gutters. Align failed to score a goal in the first period. Jared Libby scored a goal in the second period for Align to tie the game at 1-1. Victor Van and Emma Laviolette each scored a goal in the third period to secure the win for Align.

Sparky’s Wings & Things overwhelmed the 99 Restaurant & Pub by a score of 6-2.

William St. Amand scored the first goal of the game for Sparky’s, but shortly after Jakob Ruperto scored a goal for the 99 Restaurant to tie the game by the end of the first period. In the beginning of the second period, Jakob Ruperto scored a goal for the 99 Restaurant to take a 2-1 lead. Moments later, Samuel Powell and Daniel Howell each scored a goal for Sparky’s to take back the lead 3-2. In the third period, Daniel Howell, William St. Amand, and Samuel Powell each scored a goal to secure the win for Sparky’s.

Major League Floor Hockey, Game 7

Twomey & Legare Contracting handily beat American Resource Staffing 6-1.

Both teams struggled to score in the first period, but in the second period Twomey & Legare came out strong when Aiden Azevedo, Xavier Lopez, Evan Foskett and Nathan Libby each scoring a goal. Franklin Libby secured the victory for Twomey & Legare by scoring two goals in the second period. Jasmine Tuell helped avoid a shutout by scoring the lone goal for American Resource Staffing in the third period.

Malcolm Insurance beat Pistone Containers 5-1.

Abdiel Torre and Jayden Arias each scored a goal in the first period for Malcolm Insurance. Yonga Zagarella scored a goal for Pistone Containers at the start of the second period. Bryant Carter scored a goal at the end of the second period for Malcolm Insurance. Jason McKeon secured the win for Malcolm Insurance with a goal late in the third period.

Dempsey Insurance overcame Messinger Chiropractic 3-1.

Ryan Wentworth had a hat trick (three goals) for Dempsey Insurance in the showdown. Messinger Chiropractic failed to score in the first and second periods, but in the third Gabriel Griffine scored the lone goal for that team. Dempsey Insurance walked away with its second consecutive win.

Major League Basketball had no games due to a half day of school.

Minor League Floor Hockey, Game 7

Fantini Bakery stormed past Align Credit Union 3-0.

Braden Lynch came out strong in the first period and scored a goal for Fantini Bakery. In the second period, Dimitri Acevedo scored his first goal of the season for Fantini. Ten seconds later, Neondre Abrue scored another goal for Fantini. Billie Deveau played goalie the entire game for Fantini, stopping every shot against him.

Blase Distefano defeated Rice & Brouillard Electric 3-1.

Calvin Pruett scored two goals for Blase Distefano in the showdown. Kenny Owens scored his first goal of the season for Blase Distefano in the second period. Brian Donovan was the goalie for Blase Distefano, stopping nearly every puck that came his way. Tyler Rice scored the lone goal for Rice & Brouillard in the third period.

Arty’s Roast Beef continued its undefeated record with a big 6-0 win over Restaurant Restoration Service.

Jayden Arias scored the first goal of the game for Arty’s in the first period. In the second period, Jadiel Gomez scored the second goal for Arty’s Roast Beef. In the third period, Arty’s Roast Beef overwhelmed Restaurant Restoration with goals by Julias Urbeaz, Jayden Arias, Zack Novack and Chayleece Williams.

Minor League Basketball, Game 8

VIP Cuts put an end to Mediterranean Pizza’s undefeated streak with a 49-37 victory.

Nazair Dabreo scored a game-high 21 points for VIP Cuts. Evan Carlisle stepped up for VIP Cuts and scored 17 points to help secure the win. Phillip Cunningham scored a team-high 17 points for Mediterranean Pizza, and right behind him was Brendan Donald with 10 points.

Half Staff beat Jacqueline’s Grocery Store by a score of 50-23.

Elias Polanco had a season-high 19 points for Half Staff. McKayla Dingle and Enrique Alvarado stepped up and scored 16 points each for Half Staff. Woodrow Reese scored a team-high seven points for Jaqueline’s Grocery Store. Both teams were tied for second place, but Half Staff's triumph over Jacqueline’s left Half Staff alone in second place.

Shoe City Hardware took the victory over Early Contractors 30-28.

Early Contractors suffered its eighth consecutive loss, but the team never stopped playing hard. Jason McKeon scored a game-high 21 points for Shoe City. Joshua Gariepy scored a team-high 15 points for Early Contractors.
